3. Lightsource - Silhouettes page 1 of 2
Lightsource is all about how different types of light, whether it's daylight
twilight, sunsets or artificial lights such as neons affect how a photograph looks.
I took these pictures on the beach in Naples, Florida during a family trip.
Calvin and Connie were stood underneath this tiki umbrella with the setting
sun behind them. I wanted to capture both the sun in the background and
Calvin and Connie in the foreground.
Unfortunately in Fig. A. the sun is the strongest light in the picture and is
behind my subjects (Calvin andConnie), so it has turned them into silhouettes.
The second picture (Fig. B.) I took was taken using the flash on the camera.
This technique is called using a 'fill in flash'. Now the subjects in the foreground
have light in front of them to balance it out with the sun behind them in the background.
Of course silhouettes can also be a fun thing to create. So take a look at the
